Joseph Rogers

Bio: Rogers' clinical practice and research involve congestive heart failure patients, working to improve patient care with new pharmaceutical and surgical tools.

Additional Background: Rogers focuses on congestive heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He has evaluated new strategies to help outpatients with heart failure. With these new methods, he hopes to decrease the need for patient hospitalizations and Emergency Department visits. He has used Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging to visualize the heart at work, allowing him to investigate how the heart breaks down and uses nutrients. He also has participated in multicenter trials evaluating biventricular pacemakers that regulate and coordinate heart function in the treatment of advanced heart failure, hoping to help prevent sudden cardiac death in heart failure patients. Additionally, he examines the role of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) in the management of patients with severe heart failure who may not be candidates for heart transplants.
