I-64 Construction Update

Traffic Impacts for the Week of May 19

Monday, May 19

• From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane of westbound I-64 will be closed at Sarah Street.
• From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., striping operations in each direction of I-64 at the I-270 ramp. When crews finish the I-270 northbound ramp to westbound 64 will go back to the original configuration of one lane.
• From 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Clayton Road will have one lane closed in each direction between Warson Road and I-64.
• From 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Clayton Road will be closed at I-64.

Tuesday, May 20

• From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., expect various lane and ramp closures at Hampton Avenue and I-64.

Wednesday, May 21

• From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., expect various lane and ramp closures at Hampton Avenue and I-64.

Thursday, May 21

• No closures scheduled.

Friday, May 22

• No closures scheduled.

Saturday, May 23

• No closures scheduled.

Sunday, May 24

• No closures scheduled.

Bridge demolition, reconstruction and several bridge reopenings will have big impacts on traffic around I-64 over the next few weeks.

• May 27 McCutcheon Road bridge over I-64 scheduled to close for demolition and reconstruction. McCutcheon Road will not close until McKnight reopens. McKnight Road is scheduled to open by May 26.
• June 2 Spoede Road bridge over I-64 is scheduled to close for demolition and reconstruction.
• Late May/early June Highland Terrace and Boland Place bridges are scheduled to re-open.

This work is all part of a $420 million freeway reconstruction contract awarded to Gateway Constructors by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in December. The project will completely reconstruct I-64 from west of Spoede Road to east of Kingshighway Boulevard, a distance of about 10 miles. It will create a freeway-to-freeway interchange at I-170; rebuild 29 bridges and all 12 interchanges. One lane will also be added in each direction from west of Spoede Road to I-170.
